The Vice-president of University of Chicago Donald Levy was invited to visit USTC

Today morning, on September 16th, 2010, Prof. Donald Levy, the vice-president of the University of Chicago, was invited by USTC's president, Prof. Jianguo Hou, to visit USTC on discussing the items of the exchanging students and the research cooperation between two universities. Prof. Weiping Li, the presidental deputy for the international affairs of North America, along with Prof. Yang Zhang, the vice-dean of the school of physics, and Prof. Shu-Hong Yu, the vice-dean of the school of chemistry and material science in USTC, joined in the meeting together.

University of Chicago is a private, research university in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It was founded by the American Baptist Education Society with a donation from oil magnate and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller and incorporated in 1890. William Rainey Harper became the university's first president in 1891, and the first classes were held on Oct 1st, 1892.

It has a reputation of devotion to academic scholarship and intellectualism with a TOP-10 university ranking in United States, and as of the 2009 awards announcement is affiliated with 46 Rhodes Scholars and 85 Nobel Prize laureates, including the famous Chinese-American physical scientists Tsung-Dao Lee ( ), Chen-Ning Yang ( ) and Chee Tsui ( ) .
