On the morning of Sep. 12, a grand school opening ceremony was held for the new students of 2010 at the gymnasium of Jiangnan University. In this golden autumn, 4999 undergraduate students from all over China were welcomed to JU for a wonderful and promising future.
This ceremony started in a round of applause. Prof. Chen, President of JU, delivered a speech on behalf of all the staff and students to express a heartfelt welcome to the new students. In his speech, Prof. Chen put forward three expectations to the new students of 2010: 1. The factors of anyone s success come from within.
It relies on one s action, ambition and comprehensive qualities. 2. Freshmen should think about two questions namely why we go to college and how to get the most out of college. We are likely to be noble-minded and academically excellent via the careful consideration of the two questions. 3. New students should form the habit of diligence, cultivate their competence to study on their own and keep in mind forever that life-long learning is required by our era and society.
