Liuzhou

Located in the center of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Liuzhou is a historic and cultural city as well as a fascinating tourist city. It covers an area of 18,707 square kilometers and has a population of about 4 million. Being developed in industry, it is the largest industrial basis in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Abundant in cultural relics and tourist resources, it has features including verdant mountains, crystal water, bizarre cave, marvelous stone, dense forest and thick grass. Lianhua Cave, which is the relic of the culture of the ancient people in southern China– “Liuzhou people”, is a cave science museum with both tourism and popularization of science.

In the Dule Lava Scenic Area, karst caves are fancy and graceful. When you are standing there, you will feel amazed. Stalactites are of thousands of shapes. They all together show a miraculous scenery, and thus the“palace of the art of nature” comes into being. Longtan Park is a large-scaled scenic area integrated with karst landform, lava plants of subtropical areas and ethnic customs of the Southern minorities.

Liuhou Park, where there is cenotaph and Liuhou Memorial Temple of Liu Zhongyuan - literary artist and philosopher, is an ideal spot for thinking of the past.

The ethnic customs are unique and romantic. The songs of the Zhuang Minority, dances of the Yao Minority, festivals of the Miao Minority and the architectures of the Dong Minority are regarded to be the “four distinct features of the ethnic customs” in Liuzhou. 

"Rare Stone" is another feature of Liuzhou. Abound in bizarre stones, Liuzhou has the reputation that “the bizarre stones in Liuzhou are the best in the world”. Furthermore, coffin is also a feature of Liuzhou. There is a saying that goes, “Make fun in Hangzhou, wear clothes in Suzhou, enjoy delicacies in Guangzhou and die in Liuzhou”.

Judging from that, we can see the reputation of the coffin in Liuzhou. At present, the coffins are smaller and become a kind of decoration on people’s desk. The coffin (“棺材” in Chinese) in Liuzhou has been changed into “official and money”(“官财”in Chinese), meaning being successful in both politics and business.
