Sinochem International winning several prizes on corporate governance

Since the company has won extensive acknowledgement from the public as the first listed company putting into practice by the Board of the improvement of corporate governance mechanism, has introduced S&P rating, has been nominated as model of excellence in corporate governance by SASAC, and has made effective efforts on the publication and practice of social responsibility at senior management level in the past 2 years with the principle of "taking the social responsibility of an enterprise as its core competitiveness for sustainable development", the company, a few days ago, was honored with several prizes at the awarding meeting of the 3^rd (2006) "Golden Round Table Prize"for the Boards of China Listed Companies, sponsored by the magazine of "The Board". In particular, Chairman Luo Dongjiang has won the prize of "the Chairman with the strongest social responsibility". Independent Director Wang Wei has won "the most influential independent director. Besides, the company board has again been nominated as the best board for Golden Round Table Prize , following the prize of "Best Board in China" in 2004 and the prize of "Special contribution to corporate governance" in 2005, showing that the company has got the acknowledgement from the society in respect of social responsibility and corporate governance.

The "Golden Round Table Prize" for the Boards of China Listed Companies, sponsored by the magazine of The Board , is the first integrated prize in China for company boards, the core of corporate governance for listed companies. It is held once a year and it is the 3^rd session this year. The consideration is done by Research Institute of Entrepreneurs of Nanjing University based on company performance, board structure, board behavior, board performance, the due diligence of the board to the interest of shareholders as well as the appraisal to the board by external organizations. A list of the top 100 boards are chosen among 1400 listed companies, followed by rating of association of listed companies and association of board secretaries within their respective supervisions. The result of rating will then be combined with the result of online voting system on www.sina.com set up the sponsor for the final generation of each prize through multiple screening.
