Sinochem International Strives for being the Model of Social Responsibility

On October 31, 2007 China Responsible Care Conference was held by China s petroleum and chemical industry in Shanghai, where Mao Jianong, Vice General Manager and the Board Secretary of Sinochem International, was invited to make the report on corporate social responsibility.

Li Yongwu, Chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, Guan Zhihua, Chairman of Association of International Chemical Manufacturers, and related leaders of State Environmental Protection Administration and State Administration of Work Safety attended the conference and delivered speeches, and more than 500 representatives of enterprises and related associations at home and abroad attended the conference.

Mao Jianong noted in the speech that since it was listed in 2000, the company has always been concerned about the harmonious relationships with all stake holders including shareholders, employees, clients, community, suppliers and natural environment, endeavoring to integrate daily business practice, operation, policy of the company with basic social values, paying attention to disadvantaged groups and environment protection, and promoting the sustainable development of the society. Since 2005, Sinochem International has published the performance in environmental protection, health and safety in annual corporate responsibility report, to receive the wide supervision from public.

Mao Jianong emphasized that only responsible companies can establish long-term harmonious business environment and philosophy, integrate itself with global standard, and create true value for shareholders. Sinochem International is becoming the leader in chemical logistics and distribution in China, and should also become the model of social responsibilities in related industries, which is also the sacred mission of the board and staff.

Responsible Care is an industrial self-disciplined program conducted by the petroleum and chemical industry in the world, involving practice guidelines in six aspects, namely pollution prevention, process safety, product distribution, community recognition and emergency response, employee health and product safety supervision. Sinochem International is one of the first batch of pilot enterprises implementing China Responsible Care Guidelines. Following the first China Responsible Care Conference held in Beijing successfully in June 2005, the conference this year is another great event, with focus on chemical safety supervision.

Han Jianguo, General Manager of EHS Department, Sinochem International, on behalf of the company, delivered the speech titled Introduction to Rules of Chemical Storage and Transport and Shared Experience at the conference.
