Working toward the Production Safety Target of the Year

On September 18, SinoChem International Field Working Meeting on Safety and Environmental Protection was concluded in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, which called for the further improvement in EHS and strengthening of enforcement, in an effort to meet the production safety target set for this year.

Xian Ming, executive deputy GM of SinoChem International was present at the meeting.

Han Jianguo, general manager of Safety and Environmental Protection Department of SinoChem International pointed out the major risky issues and presented the plan for the 4^th quarter of this year. According to him, with the concerted effort of all the EHS staff, during the first 3 quarters of this year, the general production safety situation remained stable and under control. However, various small incidents occurred now and then. There still existed potential safety risks and much had to be done for safety and environmental protection. We should expand the scope of EHS. Instead of merely talking safety for the sake of safety, we must start from the actual production reality, and address possible risks and related problems in a deeper way. We should strive to realize the pr-set target for production safety in 2007.

During the meeting, safety directors from the companies controlled by SinoChem International reported on the major risks points and execution measures. The attendees also came to Menglong Rubber Plant of Xishuangbanna SinoChem Rubber Co. Ltd. to learn about the rubber production process and safety management, and watched the drill for emergency fire response.
