Sinochem Wonder Succeeded on CDM Registry

On July 18th, Shanxi Sinochem Wonder Industrial Co. Ltd. ("Sinochem Wonder" hereinafter), a coke producer of Sinochem Int l succeeded the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) registry of a 24 MW power generation from coking waste heat project in the executive board of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and became China's first heat recovery coke oven manufacturer with CDM registry.
According to the designed capacity, Sinochem Wonder's CDM project can reduce CO2 emission by 130,000 ton per year. At the mean time, it can acquire considerable economic profits by the Clean Development Mechanism.
CDM is an arrangement under the Kyoto Protocol allowing industrialized countries with a greenhouse gas reduction commitment to invest in projects that reduce emissions in developing countries as an alternative to more expensive emission reduction in their own countries. A crucial feature of an approved CDM carbon project is that it has established that the planned reductions would not occur without the additional incentive provided by emission reductions credit.

Sinochem Wonder is the first Chinese enterprise producing clean-type heat-recovery coke ovens, jointly holding the patent of the heat-recovery coke oven model with the design company. It aims to help promote the development of the newly-emerging technology which was just introduced from developed countries to China.

Sinochem Wonder is dedicated to the development of sustainable economy and the establishment of a "green" enterprise in the coking industry. With its integration of coking, power generation from coking waste heat and ferroalloy, the enterprise has optimized the utilization of resources and made further steps to protect the environment.

With the cooperation of ten other heat-recovery coke oven manufacturers in Shanxi Province, Sinochem Wonder developed and sponsored the CDM project of power generation from coking waste heat, making it possible to properly utilize the coking waste heat and making its investment in environmental protection worthwhile
