Write: Wolfgang [2011-05-20]
On 10th of December, Sinochem International signed a contract with Chinese Red Cross Foundation in Beijing for helping building 10 philanthropic and anti-epidemic stations, in an effort to improve the rural medical infrastructure in 2010 in the impoverished regions of Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui and Guizhou, etc.
At the donation ceremony, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Red Cross Foundation Liu Xuanguo awarded a Donation Certificate to Sinochem Vice General Manager Li Dajun. Over 10 media representatives attended the ceremony, among which there are Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, Economic Daily, Famers'Daily, China Chemical Industry News, China Securities Journal, etc.
In the poverty-stricken regions of China, many rural health clinics are still in poor condition, where Stethoscope, blood-pressure meter, thermometer are all the medical equipments in their possession. Out of repair for years, some health clinics have to treat patients under the ramshackle and leaky roof. Some villages even have no sanitation and anti-epidemic stations, leaving doctors treating patients back at their own homes and incurring diagnostic pitfalls from time to time. Diseases have become one of key reasons for peasants falling into poverty.

Sinochem International has been engaged in the distribution of pesticide in the rural regions for long time. They have been dealing in sought-after weedicide Roundup which clears of weeds while doing little damage to the soil and delivers a sales volume more than 50 million bottles every year. The quality weedicide has helped the peasants with agricultural production, while the fact that a great many peasants have no access to medical care haunts thousands of employees of Sinochem International.

At this time, Sinochem International pairs up with Chinese Red Cross Foundation to exercise large social welfare project "Red Cross Angel Plan", in an effort to relieve the problem of the deficiency of medical infrastructure and access l in poverty-stricken regions.
