At 9:45, one ISO-TANK vehicle of the logistics business department of Sinochem International loaded with styrene was working in the PU raw material unloading area of Sinochem International PU Co. Ltd. Suddenly, the mechanical seal of unloading pump failed, a large number of styrene leaked instantly, and leaded to fire emergency in pump area and the pipe gallery.
The on-site situation was extremely critical, if the fire continued to spread and explode, the security of on-site acrylonitrile, styrene storage tank area, several chemical plants nearby and even the whole Taicang City would be threatened.
During the drill, the refined chemicals and logistics business departments started separately pre-emergency plans to carry out rescue and relief work immediately under the unified commanding and coordination of Sinochem International emergency commanding center. The key points of drill by Sinochem International PU Ltd Co. were fire fighting, on-site equipment repair, leak stopping under pressure, environmental sanitary sewer, air inspection, personnel rescuing, field alert and logistical support.
The concentration of SAFE-Transport Chemical Logistics Co., Ltd. was cutting off value urgently, vehicle evacuation, decontamination, leak-proof treatments, personnel emergency treatment, headquarter commanding and technical support.
