Mengniu layouts milk supply to resolve bottleneck of dairy industrial development

On October 18, the Second Session of 2nd Meeting of Economy and Marketing of China Dairy Industry Association was opened in Beijing. Attendants from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and large dairy companies gathered together to carry out discussion over issues relating to developmental trend analysis and necessary measures to take.

On the meeting, Mengniu s vice president Zhao Yuanhua appealed that all colleagues in dairy circle to make unified efforts towards milk supply construction, the weakest link constraining development of Chinese dairy industry, under support from the association and government policies.

Mengniu sustainably push forward milk supply construction

Along with increase of resident consumption, the development of Chinese dairy industry is still restricted by unbalanced shortage of milk supply. Just as what Song Kungang, president of China Dairy Industry Association, has put, transforming raw material base model and developing self-owned milk supply is the first prior task for industrial upgrading.

Dairy enterprises must strengthen forces on self-owned milk supply base construction, carry out modern technological reform over milk bases and enhance production efficiency and development level. Through enlarging milk source scale and transforming traditional cow raising model to ensure the quality and safety of raw milk.

Facing gradual expanding market demands, Mengniu has been deepening nation wide layout and pushing forward construction of modern ecological farm in recent years. In the first half of this year, Mengniu invested RMB 400 million yuan to build 10,000-herds modern dairy farm in Tongliao city, Inner Mongolia, and built organic liquid milk manufactory and 10,000-herds dairy farm in Yinchuan, Ningxia Autonomous Region.

Until today, Mengniu has built over fourteen 10,000-herds farms nationwide in the form of self-building and joint building. These farms are scattered mainly in places such as Hohhot, Saibei, Chabei, Ma Anshan and Shangzhi, etc. Raw milk for Mengniu s production from modern farms and communities takes majority among the whole supply, which lays solid foundation for Mengniu s quality and safety.

Build dairy ecological and safe farms

Statistics show that in this year, the import of dairy product has increased a lot especially the powder milk. Many Chinese milk powder companies even stop using domestic milk for production. Regarding this trend, dairy experts say that along with the Chinese dairy makers construction of milk base, they should pay more attention to quality promotion and safe ecological farm building alongside the volume expansion.

In the process of milk supply base building, Mengniu also gradually promotes recyclable farm system construction which centers cow breeding as main body and coordinates systematic development of organic and environmental protection recognition, forage grass planting, grass processing, cow raising, manure processing, vegetable planting, flower exhibition, staff training and tourist to build tourist farms featured energy-saving and environmental protection.

Inside Mengniu Austasia International Dairy Farm located at Helingeer, Mengniu invests RMB 45 million yuan to build globally largest biogas power plant. This plant is capable of treating 500 tons of manure per day with producing 12,000 cubic meters of methane. It can provide 1,000 KWH of electricity to national grid.

The whole process of power generation realizes free from public-hazard, pollution and emission, and the treated water are all utilized to irrigate farms; biogas residue and slurry are made into fertilizer which not only reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers such as grass and silage, but also realizes ecological transformation of matter and energy in agriculture.

On the lane of future dairy development, he who gains milk supply gains the world. On one hand, Mengniu invests largely in ecological farm construction for safety purpose, on the other, Mengniu makes solemn promise to safety for consumers under brand slogan of Good Quality, Green Life.
