The Directorate of TCL-Thomson Electronics Co., Ltd was Founded Formally

(Hong Kong news, Oct 18, 2004) ---- The directors of the joint venture, TCL-Thomson Electronics Co., Ltd. (TTE), set up by TCL and Thomson basing upon their respective color TV businesses, met for the first time in Oct 13, 2004 and formally appointed executive members of TTE directorate and managing group.

TTE directorate was established through TCL and Thomson mutual discussion and consultation. Li Dongsheng and Charles Dehelly were respectively appointed chairman and vice-chairman of the board. The other newly-appointed directors include Mr. Hu Qiusheng, Mr. Yan Yong, Mr. Zhao Zhongyao, Mr. Zhao Qisong, Mr. Julian Waldron, Mr. Al Arras and Mr. Alastair Campbell.

Also at the same time the directorate declared the members of TTE managing group. Mr. Zhao Zhongyao was appointed CEO of TTE. As declared earlier Mr. Al Arras was appointed President of TTE. Mr. Zhao Qisong and Mr. Yan Yong were respectively appointed COO and CFO of TTE.

Li Dongsheng, chairman of TTE, said, "With the strength of our professional managing group, TTE will be able to make policies and direction of business operation in order to increase long-term competition and profit-making abilities. We will support in continuing development in TTE?s business. We are full of confidence in the future of TTE and strongly believe the cooperation will create good value for shareholders from the long-term point."

TTE is the joint venture which was established by TCL and Thomson together, who respectively hold 67% and 33% share. In July 2004 TTE started operation formally paying special attention to R&D, manufacturing, distribution of color TV products and business extension. TTE supplies a series and wide range of color TV products from the economical to the luxurious, from the basic functional to the hi-tech, and from the analog to the digital and so on.

TTE employs more than 29,000 Thomson personnel and set up several payoff centers, global R&D centers and production bases in all parts of the world.
