[December 15, 2004, Hong Kong] - Mr. Li Dongsheng, President and CEO of TCL Corporation, also Chairman of TCL International Holdings Limited (HKSE code: 1070) and TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited (HKSE code: 2618), was named one of the "TIME/CNN 25 Business Influentials" for the year 2004 by TIME Magazine and CNN.

Other awardees included Mr. Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of General Electric; Mr. Aad Jacobs, Chairman of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies; Mr. Chuck Prince, CEO of City Group; Mr. Gunther Thielen, CEO of Bertelsmann; Mr. Sinan Al-Shabibi, President of Central Bank of Iraq.

Both TIME Magazine and CNN stated that these 25 business influentials were elected because of their achievements in setting global standards for management, ethics, marketing and innovations in the rapidly changing and highly competitive business world.

TIME Magazine and CNN classified the elected 25 business influentials into six categories: innovators, reformers, business growers, investors, revolutionists and profit makers. As the Chinese businessman elected, Mr. Li was listed as the business grower in the tally because of his relentless efforts to lead the company to compete globally. His peers in the same category also included Mr. Sam Jonah, CEO of ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI, Mr. Vivek Paul CEO of WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES, Ms Judy Mcgrath, CEO of MTV Networks, among others.

"These business giants created and set up the global standards," a business editor of TIME said.

In the article of TIME Magazine, it described TCL, under the leadership of Mr. Li, initially relying on a loan from local government, has grown into a global company. In 2004 Mr. Li joined hands with Thomson and Alcatel, both being French companies, to extend the foothold of its TV business and mobile handset business, establishing TCL as the largest TV manufacturer and the 7th largest mobile handset supplier in the world. These made TCL headlines globally. Currently, Mr. Li is seen as the forerunner in leading Chinese business to compete globally.
