The first outlet to sell Beijing 2008 Olympic-licensed products outside Mainland China opened today in Macau. Its opening gave Macau residents who supported Beijing Olympic Games and loved sports an opportunity to experience the Olympic atmosphere, and sent Olympic blessing to Macau people on the occasion of the Spring Festival.

The store was pioneered by Bank of China (BOC) at a high-profile opening ceremony in Macau Tower. People attended the ceremony include Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, Wang Jinxiang, Vice-director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macau, Huang Songpu, Deputy Commissioner, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People's Republic of China in the Macau SAR, Zhang Yanling, Executive Vice President of the Bank of China, Yuan Bin, Director of the Marketing Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Lan Huaying, President of Olympic Council of Macau, and Zhang Hongyi, General Manager of the Bank of China Macau Branch (BOC Macau).

Zhang Yanling, Executive Vice President of the Bank of China, said that Bank of China was a commercial bank with the longest history in China. In its 100-year glorious history, BOC won customers credit with prudent operation, mature products and rich experiences. Over the years, BOC Macau, adhering to the operational principle " Root in Macau and Serve Macau", operates steadily, pioneers to succeed, and endeavors to promote the development of the businesses,.

BOC Macau has made its own contributions to the steady development and financial undertaking of Macau along with all the social fields. The fact that BOCOG chose BOC Macau as the first retail shop to sell Beijing 2008 Olympic Games licensed merchandises in Macau demonstrates the confidence of BOCOG to BOC and the organization s recognition to BOC Macau in terms of operational capability, risk prevention, personnel quality, hardware facility and other conditions.

BOC will cherish this opportunity and try its best to sell licensed merchandises relying on its advantages in global financial services and BOC Macau s good reputation and social impact, so as to accumulate experiences for the opening and marketing of the overseas market for Beijing Olympic licensed merchandises.

Yuan Bin, Director of BOCOG Marketing Department, said when she attended the opening ceremony, "The Olympic licensing program is an important part of the Olympic Marketing Plan. Olympic licensed products not only serve as the carriers that wide spread the Olympic spirit and build brand image of the Beijing Olympics, but also provide a platform for competitive national enterprises to participate in the Olympics and engage into the world market, which brings along huge Olympic opportunities.

The Macau outlet will raise international awareness of the Olympic-licensed products to a great extent while promoting Chinese culture and Beijing characteristics to the world. Apart from that, Olympic licensed merchandise will become a new highlight of and play a positive role for further development of Macau s tourism; further provoke Macau residents passion to Olympic Games, and deepen the public s understanding to the theme of One World, One Dream .

"

BOCOG chose BOC Macau to open the first licensed store in Macau. Its sales plan includes precious metal products (gold and silver products), coin-shaped medals (gold plated copper, sliver plated copper medals), and commemorative badges. Most of the souvenirs, badges and suits featuring the Beijing Olympic Mascots have limited issues with the designs reflecting upon the concept of " People s Olympics" by perfectly combining traditional precious metal with modern design, and integrating Chinese culture into Olympics; with manufacturing link demonstrating upon the concept of high-tech Olympics by adopting brand new technology, complicated technique, unique anti-counterfeiting functions, and comparatively high technological content; and with high collection value and appreciation potential.

Residents interested in them could purchase these products in San Ma Lou Sub-Branch of BOC Macau.

It is learned that Olympic-licensed products outlet in Macau would continue to sell precious metal products (gold and silver products), whose detailed sales proposal is still under preparation. It is believed that Macau residents could further enjoy the pleasure brought by Olympic-licensed products and benefit from the investment in them. Meanwhile, these licensed products will attract Chinese in Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia to participate in the Olympic Games, and arouse a new tide of Olympic souvenirs collection.
