Grand Opening of Beijing 2008 Official Licensed Stores

Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ( BOCHK ) today announced the grand opening of Beijing 2008 Official Licensed Stores at its three designated branches. Located at Bank of China Tower Branch, Central District (Wing On House) Branch and Shanghai Street (Mong Kok) Branch, the stores offer limited edition Olympic official licensed products for public purchase. These include precious metal products, coin-shaped medals and commemorative badges.

Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony, Mr He Guangbei, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of BOCHK, said, In anticipation of the Olympic Games, we are pleased to announce the opening of the Olympic Licensed Stores at BOCHK. With these licensed stores, we aim to reach out to the public in welcoming this historical event.

For the convenience of the public, we have selected three branches as the licensed stores, located at major hubs in Hong Kong and Kowloon. Looking ahead, we will open more licensed stores in our branches and adjust the types and quantities of licensed products, according to the market situation and customer needs.

Bank of China (BOC), the parent bank of BOCHK, is the official banking partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and licensed retailer of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG). We take great pleasure in seeing this license being extended to Hong Kong, making it possible for us to set up the licensed store here.

We believe that these souvenirs will be well-received by customers and the public at large.

Mr Cheng Feng, Deputy Director of the Marketing Department of the BOCOG, said, BOC, as the partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, became a licensed retailer in 2006. Today, it opens its licensed stores in Hong Kong, providing an opportunity for Hong Kong citizens to participate in the Olympics and get a feel for what Olympic culture is, and enabling BOCOG to conduct a soft launch before the full launch of its licensed scheme.

The licensed scheme forms an important integral part of BOCOG s marketing plan. It aims to promote Olympic spirit, the brand image of the Beijing Olympic Games, as well as Chinese traditional culture. It also offers a good chance for various local and international quality enterprises to join the Olympic marketing plan.

An array of Olympic Official Licensed Products will be available at Beijing 2008 Official Licensed Stores. Featuring the Olympic mascots and Chinese surnames, these limited edition souvenirs have been designed along the conceptual lines of sports, fan, screen and flower shapes and nature, which are traditional characteristics of Chinese culture. Furthermore, the delicate packing and an enclosed certificate make the products must-have items for collectors.
