Professor Chen Naixing served as an honorary member of the International Advisory Board in the Gas Turbine Society of Japan (GTSJ)

The president of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan, Professor Shinji Honami, on behalf of the Society, presided a grand ceremony and granted research Professor Chen Naixing an certificate of an honorary member of the International Advisory Board in the Gas Turbine Society of Japan at the 2009 Asian Congress on Gas Turbines (ACGT2009) in Tokyo, Japan on August 25, 2009. In his speech, Professor Shinji Honami highly praised Professor Chen Naixing for his outstanding contributions to disciplines of gas turbines, and expressed his homage to Professor Chen Naixing for his excellent productive work on paying close attention to development of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan, and promoting international cooperation in the field of gas turbines.

At the ceremony, Professor Chen Naixing thanked the Gas Turbine Society of Japan for the honor. He said that he would continue his efforts to promote academic exchanges and friendships of colleagues in gas turbines in Asian countries. Inspired by special advantages of gas turbines, Professor Chen Naixing proposed two initiatives.

Firstly, we should accelerate the development in the industry of gas turbines in Asian with such a vitality and spirit as that of gas turbines. Secondly, we should strengthen unification and cooperation with such a spirit of cooperation as that of gas turbines with other power machinery to make greater contributions to solutions to forefront problems in research and production of gas turbines.

The Asian Congress on Gas Turbines (ACGT) is an annual regional international congress co-sponsored and hosted by the Gas Turbine Society of Japan (GTSJ), Korean Fluid Machinery Association (KFMA) and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and held annually in turn in the three countries. This congress plays a promoting role in strengthening international influences of Asia on the field of gas turbine power, and advancing technologies and international exchanges in the field of gas turbines.
