IMHE Experts Accomplished Emergency Risk-elimination Construction of Landslide Dams in Pakistan

Experts from Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS(IMHE) accomplished emergency risk-elimination construction of landslide dams in Pakistan and returned Chengdu on April 4, 2010.

With the help of China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC), University of Peshawarn and local police, experts arrived at dammed lake in Gilgit, Pakistan smoothly and made detailed investigation and measurement on the landslide, dammed lake, and river hydrology in Gilgit. Based on the first-hand materials acquired in fieldwork, experts discussed the cause, influence and emergency countermeasures of dammed lake and the preliminary report was submitted to Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and CRBC.
Expert team returned Chengdu on April 4 safely. Prof. DENG Wei, director of IMHE, organized a meeting to summarize the work and determine future plans in order to promote the next emergency risk-elimination work.
