On Oct 30, the Awarding Ceremony of Hong Kong Sang Ma Trust Fund was held at ZSTU. At the Ceremony, distinguished guests, presidents of some universities and experts were present, includingMs. Wong Cha May Lung Madeline, President of Hong Kong Cha Textiles Ltd, Du Yuzhou, Director of China Textile Industry Association, Ji Guobiao, Jiang Shicheng, Yaomu, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Tiankai, the Deputy-director of China Textile Industry Association, Xu Hui, Vice-chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference (PPCC), Jiang Shengxiang, the Deputy-secretary of the Education Work Committee of Zhejiang Provincial CPC Committee and Deputy-director of Zhejiang Provincial Education Department, and presidents or experts from Tianjin Polytechnic University, Southeast University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology and Xi an Polytechnic University as well as distinguished guests of textile enterprises from Hong Kong and the hinterland.
ZSTU s President Qiu Songliangdelivered his speech to the ceremony. He, on behalf of ZSTU, extended warm welcome to presidents, scientists of textiles, educators, experts, guests and winners of the Sang Ma Trust Fund and his respect to President Cha and Sang Ma Trust Fund. Qiu briefly introduced ZSTU s achievements in research and teaching and expressed that ZSTU s faculties and students will engage in constantly promoting the quality of talents and teaching and contributing to the further development of textile industry through the cooperation with other colleges and universities.
In the speech, Ms. Cha extended her thanks to those who has long supported the work of Sang Ma Trust Fund and sang high praise for the services provided by ZSTU. Du Yuzhou, senior consultant and trustee of the Fund and the Director of the China Textile Industry Association and Xuhui, Vice-chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference delivered speeches respectively at the ceremony.
Wang Tianka, senior consultant and trustee of the Fund and the Deputy-director of China Textile Industry Association announced the award-winners of the 2010 Sang Ma Fund. Officials and distinguished guests on the platform issued the Sang Ma Textile Science & Technology Awards, Sang Ma Awards for Teaching and Sang Ma Scholarship to the representatives of the winners. According to the decision of Sang Ma Trust Fund, there are four First-Prize winners and Twelve Second-Prize winners. Wang Xiuhua, teacher of ZSTU was granted the Second Prize of the Science & Technology Award of Sang Ma Trust Fund. Five teachers and forty-eight students were awarded Prizes for Teaching and Scholarship respectively.
Li Jin, winner of Sang Ma Award of Science & Technology Award, senior engineer of ChinaTextileAcademy, Prof. Jin Guoguang from TianjinPolytechnicUniversity, winner of Sang Ma Award for Teaching and Wu Jiali, ZSTU s student and winner of Sang Ma Scholarship made speeches respectively.
After the ceremony, academic lectures were given. Shi Meiwu, winner of the First Prize of Sang Ma Science & Technology Award and senior engineer of the Quartermaster Research Institute of the GeneralLogisticsDepartment of the PLA, Wang Lixia, senior engineer from DalianSyntheticfiberInstitute, Co., Ltd, He Chunju, researcher from SoutheastUniversity and Prof. Zhangjian from Guangdong Textile Polytechnic Institute introduced their prized projects respectively.
Sang Ma Trust Fund was founded in 1992 by Mr. Cha Chi Ming, prestigious industrialist, patriot and winner of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Great Bauhinia Medal which is issued to those who has made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong s return to China. The Fund is intended to promote the science and technology of textile industry and education. As one of the most influential academic funds in China s textile & apparel industry, Sang Ma Trust Fund has encouraged and sponsored scientists, educators and students in the arena of textile science & technology and plays an indispensible role in encouraging and promoting scientific & technological development and talent cultivation in the fields of textile & apparel in China.
In the afternoon, awards-winners of the 2010 Sang Ma Trust Fund held a meeting in Room 308 of ZSTU s AdministrativeBuilding. The meeting was hosted by Du Yuzhou, senior consultant of the Fund, trustees, officials from universities and work units concerned and prize-winners were present. They had heated and extensive discussions on the recent development and talents cultivation in the future.
