On the morning of October 16th, Happy Together in Jiangsu 2010 International Cultural Exchange Day, Nanjing, Jiangsu was held in Baima Park, as one of the important activity of 2010 World Historical & Cultural Cities Expo. It falls into 5 sections: gathering in Jiangsu , brilliant Jiangnan , smart world , gourment collection and green homeland .
Nearly one thousand foreigners form more than 20 countries got together with Nanjing citizens. At the same time of watching performances and tasting delicious foods, they got to know more about Chinese traditional cultures and custom of Jiangsu.
Happy Together in Jiangsu started with the art performance Happily Gathering in Jiangsu . Foreigners study or work in Nanjing gave performances on the stage in Baima Park. Kim Hyun Deok from South Korea played A Li Lang with Ocarina. Students from India, Nepal and Laos staged a folk dance. Students from Vietnam and Malaysia sang Chinese songs, True Heros and Childhood and were applauded by the audience, despite of some pronunciation mistakes. At last, Jiaojiao Musical Center staged Peking Opera Gui Fei Zui Jiu and folksong Xiu He Bao.
In smart world section, Chinese folk craftsmen and foreign students held a craftwork exhibition. 20 craftsmen from Nanjing Folk Custom Museum demonstrated paper-cutting, Jinling bamboo engraving, Chinese knot and pyrography. At the Jinling bamboo engraving booth, Municipal non-material cultural heritage heir Zhao Rong attracted many foreigners to watch his bamboo engraving skills. People of Nanjing found the craftwork from Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal and Pakistan very lovely and interesting. Fabric dolls, hand-woven bags of Mauritius and arras from Pakistan are favored by many visitors.
