Container shipping line from Nanjing to Ulsan, South Korea opened on the morning of December 1st. It is the first time for Nanjing Port to open an international near-sea shipping line in the past 5 years and it is the first sea route that opens in Nanjing since the government implemented container incentive policy.
Container ship from Nanjing to Ulsan sails once a week, every Wednesday. The ship named Jin Man Hu belongs to a world famous regular ship company Namsung Shipping of South Korea. Its shipping space at full load is 332 standard containers. Before arriving in Ulsan, it berths in Busan Port.
Now, there are 3 direct near-sea shipping lines from Nanjing to Ulsan every week: South Korea line operated by Sinotrans Container Lines Co., Ltd. Jiangsu Branch, which berths in Busan and Kwangyang, every Wednesday and Saturday; and South Korea line operated by Sinokor Company of South Korea, which berths in Busan and Kwangyang, every Friday.
The new line from Nanjing to Ulsan is the first direct shipping line between the 2 places. It will further increase frequency of shipping from Nanjing to South Korea; provide better guarantee for material exchange between Nanjing and South Korea; and provide transfer channels for goods from Japan and Southeast Asia.
Ulsan is located in the southeast coastline of the Korean Peninsula. It is the biggest municipality directly governed by the central government. It used to be an important pass to East Asia and Southeast Asia for South Korea. Now, it has become a center for exchange and cooperation with different countries in the world.
