Nanjing Closes Another 35 Small Chemical Factories

Based on closing 162 small chemical factories , Nanjing Municipal Government released that another 35 chemical manufacturing companies including Nanjing No.3 Zhongshan Fine Chemical Plant. This is the eighth time for Nanjing to close a batch of small chemical factories .

A responsible person of Nanjing Bureau of Work Safety introduced that, small chemical factories refer to chemical companies that violate regular life of citizens; do not meet environment protection standards; do not have complete licenses; violate laws and regulations. Since 2006, Nanjing has given orders to close small chemical factories for 7 times and closed 162 companies. Now there is no small chemical factor in main city especially the core area. Next step, we will focus on Jiangning and Qixia, Yanziji area.
Apart from closing small chemical factories, Nanjing also enhances entry threshold for new chemical programs entering chemical parks. Approval limit has been adjusted from over 30 million RMB (excluding land cost) to 80 million.

End of last July, Nanjing Municipal Government held a press conference to announce that before end of October, this year, all hazardous chemical companies in the main city region to Yanziji and Xiaguan in the west, the Yangtze River in the north, the 2nd Yangtze River Bridge Ring Road in the east and Weiyi Road in the south, will be shutdown or moved. In recent years, all chemical companies except Jinling Petrochemical Corp. have been moved out of main city of Nanjing, to the south of the Yangtze River.
