Wu Xiulan, a 97-year-old survivor of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Forces of Aggression passed away on the morning of February 10. Now there are only over 300 survivors of Nanjing Massacre and 7 of them are at their 90s.
When the Japanese invaders conquered Nanjing, Wu Xiulan was 24 years old. She was hit by a bomb of the Japanese army together with 3 children of hers. The eldest daughter died on the spot. Her second daughter was hit on the right leg. She herself lost consciousness. The third daughter in her arm was just 6 months old, who died due to hunger and scare during Wu s coma after a few days. Wu survived but lost her left leg forever. As one of the 222 witnesses whose names are engraved on the copperplate in the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, Wu Xiulan attended peace assembly every year in the memorial hall to mourn for the victims.
