CAREC Business Devt Forum Opens

Nuer Baikeli, deputy secretary of CPC Xinjiang Committee, chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region addressed the opening ceremony. He gave suggestions on promoting more cooperation modes in more fields, stepping out mechanism on information exchange, and extending market access following the international economic and trade rules.

The forum, themed jointly promoting the prosperity of central Asia, sets up an exchange platform between industrial sectors and governments, and offers a chance for different countries to seize new opportunities in regional economic development.

The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation system was established in 1996. 8 countries including China, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Mongolia, as well as Asian Development Bank (ADB) and some other international institutions are under the system. With more regional cooperation, China and the central Asia countries see evidently the economic advantage supplement, and great cooperation potential.

The trade volume of China and the other countries under the system reached 25.9 billion USD in 2009 from 1 billion USD in 1996, a rise of 26 times. From 2001 to 2009, the import and export trade volume of XJ China and central Asian countries was 63.6 billion USD, with an annual average rise of 35 percent.
