The Mingxing Village Committee is located in the middle of the west bank of Fuxian Lake and at the juncture of Jiangchuan County and Chengjiang County with a distance of 80 kilometers from Kunming and about 10 kilometers away from Jiangcheng. It neighbors Lichang Village of Chengjiang County on its north, Sanbaimu Village on its west, Niumo Village on its south and Fuxian Lake on its east. it is surrounded by mountains and Fuxian Lake. The anti-wave fish and Mingxing Fishing Cave Scenic Zone are famous at home and abroad. The unique natural advantage and ancient piping-water-to-catch-fish method are not seen elsewhere. The population of the village committee was 2,237 by the end of 2007 and the total income was 24.97 million yuan with farmers per capita income being 4,481 yuan.
In recent years, relying on its natural advantage, the Buddhism culture of Biyun Temple and ancient fishing culture, Mingxing Village Committee has set the development strategy of developing on agriculture, ecological construction, tourism, and pillar enterprises and therefore has taken measures to strengthen tourism infrastructure construction, attract business, accelerate industrial structure adjustment, enhance promotion, and evoke comprehensive development of the village s economy. The major tourist attractions in the village include Biyun Temple and Mingxing Fishing Cave Zone.
Biyun Temple
The temple is also known as Little Wudang Temple that is located in Biyun Mountain with a total area of 150,000 square meters and 3,037 square meters architecture area. It was first built by a disciple of Wudang in Jun County of Hubei Province in middle Ming Dynasty. The area was appraised to be an AA park of national level in 2005. It is one of the three major Buddhism venues in Jiangchuan County. The temple is surrounded by beautiful environment and is a ideal place to view the lake under the mountain.
Mingxing Fishing Cave
It is located beside Chengjiang-Jiangchuan road with hills behind and Fuxian Lake in its front. There are a number of fishing caves along the shore. For years, local fishermen have been taking advantage of the caves to fish and a unique piping-water-to-catch-fish method has been in use to catch the anti-wave fish in Fuxian Lake. In 2005, the area was appraised to be an AA park of national level.
