Shantou's Water Transport Capacity "Gone Up"

Since this year, Shantou's transportation sector has strengthened the structural adjustment of water transport industry in order to build and develop a good environment for the water transport industry and enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of industry development. The water transport capacity has gone up for "heavy volume". The ship structure has transformed to large tonnage, new model and energy saving, of which the rotation volume of goods transport from Jan. to Aug. has reached 4.50315 billion ton kilometer, up 23 over that of the same period in last year. This not only shows the strong acceleration of development trend for water transport, but also indicates the continuous expansion in depth of Shantou's economic hinterland.
Currently, Shantou has 21 water transport enterprises, 40 domestic water transport service enterprises, 25 international shipping agency enterprises, 14 non-vessel operating enterprises and 9 permanent representative offices of foreign carriers.
