[Week 31, 2010] Guangzhou Issues Policy to Attract High-level Talent

Guangzhou officials last week issued a report entitled Opinions on Attracting and Cultivating High-level Talents which enables the city government to award two people every two years for outstanding contributions to the economic and social development of the city.

The 5 million RMB award, known as the Yangcheng Meritorious Award, is part of the city's efforts to attract more high-end talent in a number of fields.

The policy to attract more high-end talent to the city also includes benefits such as talents absorption, allocation and incentive mechanisms as well as residence permits, housing, spouse employment, children's schooling and medical care issues.
