On January 15th, an exciting news came from Tongji University. After many years of research, a team led by Prof. Qin Jianye in Tongji College of Oceanology found a method to detect the violent earthquake precursor through measuring P-wave s attenuation values of seismic wave in seismogenic zone. This methodestablished the cornerstone for accurate earthquake prediction. It was learned that, this research finding on earthquake prediction had been noticed in geological sciencecommunity worldwide. This April, Prof. Qin Jianye would present this research on the annual meeting of Seismological Society of America as the chairman of theme session.
