Sustainable Energy Project Conducted between Tongji and Illinois University

A sustainable energy project aiming at promoting geothermal energy and fuel cell technology is being conducted under the cooperation between Tongji University and University of Illinois. This project was initially proposed by international organizations based in Shanghai s sister city -Chicago and the universities and industries in the two cities.
In Chicago, this project helps provide heat and electricity to a program based in the South Lake of Chicago; meanwhile energy-saving technology applied in architecture and anti-freeze technology for metro and road system are being tested in Shanghai with the help of professionals from University of Illinois and Illinois Institute of Technology.
