The total number of guests Tongji received in 2009 is 4568 persons. It also held 26 international academic conferences and 13 cooperation agreements between Tongji and industries were signed. There are 95 long-term and some 800 short-term foreign experts working in Tongji in 2009 among whom one expert has received the title of 2009 Honorary Citizens of Shanghai and other two have received the Magnolia Awards by Shanghai Government. A total of 2371 persons, including 1344 faculty members and 1027 students, paid visit to foreign countries. In 2009, Tongji registered 2595 foreign students including 1343 who take degree courses.
