About the Lecturer:
Professor Chichilnisky is on the teaching staff of the Department of Economics at Columbia University in New York City, in the U.S. and director of PIR (Program on Information and Resources) and of CCRM (Columbia Consortium for Risk Management). She is affiliated with the IMF, the World Bank, UNESCO, UNEP, the European Commission, the Mathematical Association of America, the American Economic Association, and the American Statistical Association, and she is a distinguished professor at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Professor Chichilnisky has served on the editorial boards of the Review of Economic Studies, International Trade and Economic Development, and Development Economics. Ms. Chichilnisky is a professor of economics and finance, an expert on international trade and finance issues for the United Nations, and an expert on global climate change. She is an internationally renowned economist, ranked in the top 5 percent of economists by IDEAS and she helps to draft the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and the Kyoto Protocol. She is as well the main author of the report of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
