Secretary Liu Meets with the Delegation from College of William and Mary

A 4-person delegation from the College of William and Mary in the U.S.A., including Provost Michael R. Halleran and Carl J. Strikwerda, Dean of Arts and Sciences School, came to visit our university on December 5. The Secretary of Party Committee Chuansheng Liu met with these visitors. Vice-president Fanghua Hao, and the directors of School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, School of Arts and Media, School of History, and the International Exchange and Cooperation Office attended the meeting.
Secretary Liu welcomed the delegation warmly and exchanged opinions with the visitors about the joint establishment of the Confucius Institute and other affairs of communication and cooperation in the future. The two parties discussed fully the details of setting up the Confucius Institute at the College of William and Mary. The delegation then visited the State Key Lab of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning and the School of Global Change and Earth System Sciences. Subsequently the delegation formally submitted the application for setting up a Confucius Institute at the College of William and Mary in collaboration with our university at the Office of Chinese Language Council International.
The College of William and Mary, founded in 1693, is the second oldest university in the United States, also known as one of the best American public universities focusing on teaching. There are five schools in the college, including Arts and Sciences School, The Virginia Institute of Marine Science, The School of Education, The Mason School of Business Administration, and The Law School, all of which boast research and academic strengths.
