With a laptop, plus a compact technical equipment, on-the-spot reporting can be conducted in the classroom, in other words, practical and interactive news production training in real time will be realized. This is the Television and Journalism Coverage Simulation Teaching Platform lately developed by Television and Journalism School. The platform is the first one of its kind in domestic universities, which is a breakthrough utilizing the information technology to transform practice course teaching in the media category.
As one of the achievements of the lecture technology development during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan , the Television and Journalism Coverage Simulation Teaching Platform builds an interactive and transferable system which provides a simulating news report scene.
Taking correspondents education as an example, on-the-spot training has been conducted under a shot-record-playback mode due to the limitation of the transportation means for a long time, which has not been effectively related to the real picture news reporting practice. Now assisted by the Television and Journalism Coverage Simulation Teaching Platform, which can create a high degree of simulation of the live coverage of the environment, teachers can be free from going outside to monitor students reports while students can synchronously receive teachers feedback on the spot. When comparing to other means such as satellite and microwave, the platform is to save costs significantly. In addition to practical training of correspondents, this technology can also be used for training in news photography, writing, interviews, director, live coverage, programming, new media editor, and many other core curriculums in media category.
On the afternoon of March 24th, the Television and Journalism School Experimental Teaching Center demonstrated and explained the Television and Journalism Coverage Simulation Teaching Platform to all the staff, and this platform is highly thought of by teachers. The school will develop more uses of the technology, while keeping on improving and perfecting it.
