2007 Spring Commencement Ceremony for Graduate Students

Tsinghua University's 2007 Spring Graduate Commencement Ceremony was held in the Gymnasium on the morning of January 30th. More than 1800 graduate students received degrees. Among them, 282 were awarded doctorates and 1520 master's degrees. President of Tsinghua and Chairman of the Degree Conferral Committee Gu Binglin, Chen Xi, Chairman of the University Council, as well as other officers of Tsinghua University attended the ceremony and awarded certificates to the students.

President Gu delivered a commencement address at the ceremony. On behalf of Tsinghua University, he extended his congratulations to the graduates, commending them for their hard working and contributions to the creation of the academic atmosphere at Tsinghua University. The President also made several suggestions to the students. He urged them to be patriotic and adopt a global vision. He advised them also to have a down-to-earth attitude. Finally, he encouraged them to pursue excellence and strive for innovation.
