People to People Statistical Science Delegation (US) visits RUC

On Dec.12th, 2010, the People to People Statistical Science Delegation of America, headed by President of the American Statistical Association Dr. Sastry Pantula and Executive Director Dr. Ronald Wasserstein, visited RUC School of Statistics and had a meeting with relevant scholars.

The delegation had 35 members, including professors from renowned universities and statisticians from government and business in the US. The purpose of their visit was to promote bilateral collaboration and communal development in statistical education and application through exchanges of experiences of statistics in higher education, scientific research and cooperation with the government or industry.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Zhao Yanyun, Dean of RUC School of Statistics. RUC Senior Vice President Prof. Yuan Wei delivered a welcome and keynote speech, introducing the teaching objectives, contents and methods of different types of statistical education. Later, associate Prof. Lv Xiaoling introduced a cooperated project on China Post Beijing branch Information System; Associate Prof. Wang Xing introduced the framework and result of RUC Online Learning Behavior Diagnosis System; Associate Prof. Jiang Yan introduced cooperative research projects in statistical survey; Prof. Wang Xiaojun introduced some cooperation research and training programs in actuarial science and social security.

The delegation expressed their sincere appreciation for the warm reception and hoped to further deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the future.
