School of Urban Planning and Design Inaugurated in Shenzhen(39985)

Peking University, Beijing, Nov 23, 2009: On Nov 21, the inauguration ceremony of the School of Urban Planning and Design, Peking University was held in Shenzhen Graduate School.

The School of Urban Planning and Design is based on the research platforms of the Department of Landscape Architecture and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.

Since 2002, the research team of the School of Urban Planning and Design have obtained academic reputation in fields such as land utilization based on land science, ecological planning and ecological restoration technology based on landscape ecology, urban and regional planning based on industrial distribution and public policy theory and so on, and gained advantages in urban planning and design and regional ecological pattern planning and research.

The School offers two graduate programs in urban and regional planning and landscape architecture, and two doctoral programs in physical geography and human geography of the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, PKU. Since 2002, the above mentioned programs have enrolled 336 graduate candidates and 32 doctoral candidates.

The School has 51 faculty members, including 13 full-time teachers (8 professors, 2 associate professors and 3 lecturers), 15 teachers on the Beijing campus (1 academician, 6 professors and 8 associate professors), 14 part time professors and 9 post-doctoral researchers.

With a complete set of laboratories and research centers, the School of Urban Planning and Design will undoubtedly serve as a fresh platform for the development of the discipline, research and education of high-end talents.
