May 24,a volunteer flies a kite emblazoned "China Spirit" on
the Great Wall.
Now past the worst of the epidemic, Beijingers treat SARS with smiles.
By choosing active, relaxed and humorous ways to fight the disease and
encourage each other by words and actions, China shows the world its special
"China Spirit."
On May 24,over 1,000 volunteers participated in a "flying Kites,
Fighting SARS" activity with a theme of "Let the China Spirit
Fly" at the Badaling Section of the Great Wall. The organizers said
they hoped to express the nation's optimism and perseverance by the traditional
and healthy activity.
The kite flying activity is expected to be held every Saturday afternoon
in parks and institutions of higher learning around Beijing until the
anti-SARS success arrives.
