On December 5, Sany Group won "2008 China Charity Awards" by the State Ministry of Civil Affairs at China Philanthropy Conference in Beijing, and He Zhenlin (vice president of Sany Group) accepted the awards on behalf of the Group. Meanwhile, Chinese president and CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao met with He Zhenlin and all representatives from the winners.
Set up by the State Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2005, "China Charity Awards" is regarded as the top-class government prize in China's commonweal & philanthropy field. As a state-level honor, it aims to praise the individuals, institutions, and projects contributing significantly to commonweal & philanthropy fields (like disaster relief, support to the aged and the disabled, orphan rescuing, support to education & hospital and culture & arts, as well as environmental protection).
In 2008, 328 enterprises, individuals, and charity projects in total were granted China Charity Awards. Of all awards, "Domestic-funded Enterprise with Greatest Loving Care", with 140 winners, entered the spotlight. As a private enterprise, Sany Group always upholds the philosophy of "Responsibility for country outweighs corporate benefits", and dedicates itself to offering quality products & services, boosting the social development, and supporting commonweal undertaking. In 2008, during relief of snow-inflicted disasters and Wenchuan Earthquake, Sany fulfilled its social responsibilities by a sustained campaign in an instant, making new contribution to the national charity progress. Thus, Sany was awarded "Domestic-funded Enterprise with Greatest Loving Care".
At the congress, CPC general secretary Hu Jintao delivered a keynote speech, and he said, "
First of all, I would like to extend my warm congratulations on the convening of the China Philanthropy Conference on behalf of the Central Party Committee and the State Council; also, I'd like to show my great respect to the award winners, and extend my sincere gratitude to domestic and overseas charity institutions, social groups, elites from different enterprises and industries for their long-term great contribution to Chinese philanthropy's development."
Hu Jintao stressed that philanthropy is lofty and it is good for improvement of the people's livelihood and harmony of the society. Chinese philanthropy's development calls for strong support and great help from different circles. In addition, the president hoped that domestic and overseas social groups, and different enterprises & elites from different industries further carry forward the humanitarian spirit, and actively participate in charity activities, in addition to caring the people in need.
