On February 28, the completion ceremony of Phase I Construction Project of Sany America was successfully held in Peachtree City, a picturesque town in the southern suburb of Atlanta, which signified a new milestone in SANY s globalization. U.S. government officials and Chinese representatives participated in the ceremony, including Georgia Governor Mr. Nathan Deal, Peachtree City Mayor Mr. Don Haddix and Mr. Qiang Zhou, governor of Hunan Province, Mr. Wengen Liang, chairman of SANY Group Ltd., Mr. Yanping Gao, consul general of the Consulate General of the People s Republic of China in Houston as keynote speakers.
Phase I construction of the 420,000-square feet facility began in June 2010 while the total investment was estimated nearly $60 million. SANY America currently has 108 employees and expects to double its staff by the end of 2012. SANY America is the first and still remains the largest Chinese investment of its size in Georgia, said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. After completion, our Georgia facility will eventually be used for assembly of five different types of construction machinery including the "RT" (Rough-terrain Crane). The RT is the first North American-specific product developed through a collaborative design effort between SANY Headquarter and SANY America. Besides the rough terrain cranes, the Peachtree City facility will also work on assembly of crawler cranes, excavators, motor graders and truck-mounted concrete pumps. All above career will begin later this year. Besides, the facility will also include R&D, sales, service, and distribution operations as well.
