Sany is not a typical Chinese company, but a harbinger of things to come. Professor Hermann Simon commends in an article published on The Financial Times in January, 2011. Professor Simon is the chairman and founder of consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners and author of the bestseller Hidden Champions of the 21st Century.
In the article How Germany can Compete with China, Professor Simon recounts his visit to Sany Group headquartered in Changsha, China in October, 2009. He was stunned at seeing the Mercedes and Volvo truck chassis in an ultra-modern plant comparable only to a Scania plant he had visited near Stockholm shortly beforehand.

I saw Deutz diesels, Bosch Rexroth hydraulics and controls from Siemens. Sany stated unequivocally that they only use world-class suppliers. Professor Simon described his visit to Sany as an experience with astonishment .
Sany has embarked on its great cause of internationalization. To date, Sany Overseas has set up 27 subsidiaries and built R&D and manufacturing bases for construction machinery in India, America, Germany and Brazil.
In 2009, Sany overtook Putzmeister from Germany as the global leader in concrete pumps.
According to Daniel Sch ferin Chinese Push into Germany s Heart and Soul published on The Financial Times, Chinese companies have long ago overtaken Germany as the global market leaders in the machinery industry. Last year, the sales of Chinese machinery rose by 12 per cent to 300bn ($393bn), whereas revenues for the German industry fell 23 per cent to 178bn.
Up to now, Sany s export has totalled more than USD 1 billion. Sany has built 15 logistics centers worldwide, forging a logistics and service support system centering on spare parts warehouses.
