On Jan. 5, Vice Chairman of China Society for Southeast Asian Studies (CSSAS), Director of Southeast Asian Research Institute of Jinan University, Dean of the Department of International Relations, Professor Yunhua Cao visits the newly established Centre for Global Studies in the Asia-Pacific Region at our university.
Director of the Centre for Global Studies in the Asia-Pacific Region at YUFE, Professor Dingxin Li held the meeting with Professor Cao. He said the Center is jointly established with MoscowNationalUniversity, which aims at developing an advanced multi-national strategic consulting organization. The center has sent out invitations to the consulting committee members in the academics, political circle and industry in Russia, USA, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and India. Professor Cao and Professor Li discussed the future collaboration in research work, and agreed to jointly hold an academic symposium with the topic of Asia Pacific in 2020: Balance of Power in the near future.
Professor Cao also signed an MOU with YUFE. And the Center hires Professor Cao as the visiting professor of the Center. Lan He, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of YUFE also attended the meeting.
CSSAS was founded in 1979. It is one of the earliest research organization under the supervision of the Bureau of Education which focuses on certain regions and countries in the world after the opening-up of China. JinanUniversity is the first higher learning institution established by the government to enroll overseas Chinese. It is also the university with the greatest number of international students and a 211 Program key university under the supervision of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The Southeast Asian Research Institute of Jinan University is the earliest academic body focusing on Southeast Asian studies. The journal of this institute, Southeast Asian Studies is a national Chinese core journal in the international politics category, and a CSSCI journal. The Institute also has the only Ph.D program in international relations and the only post-doc position in South China.
