Professor Ilya V. Ilyin, Dean of the Department of the Process of Globalization of Moscow State University, Vladimir I. Maslov, a professor from the Department of Social Science, and two other people visited our university. Vice President Wang Libin received the guests. The two sides had talks.
First of all, Professor Ilya V. Ilyin expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from our university. Then, he introduced basic information about Moscow State University and the history and development of the Department of the Process of Globalization. He also indicated that the cooperation between Moscow State University and universities in the southwest district of China should be further enhanced; he hoped to cooperate with our university and to have joint scientific research and seminars. In addition, the two sides also had an in-depth discussion in regards to the establishment of the Sino-Russia Research Center of Asian-Pacific Global Issues.
After listening to Professor Ilya V. Ilyin s advice, Vice President Wang said that the visit of the representatives from Moscow State University was very important for the bilateral cooperation of education and that by cooperating with Moscow State University, our university would contribute more to the implementation of the Bridge Head Strategy in Yunnan Province. In the end, the two sides signed a memorandum of education cooperation. They also discussed 3+1 student programs.
In the afternoon, the delegation had a discussion with experts from the Research Center of Social and Economic Behavior, the MBA School and the school newspaper. They had a productive exchange regarding the fruits of globalization and different viewpoints pertaining to globalization. The scholars from both sides also indicated that all the major economic, political, social, security and cultural issues were connected to globalization. They hoped the two sides could carry out cooperation and exchange in this area.
Wang Rong, the secretary of the Party Committee, met the delegation on June 2nd. He said that Russia and China are two great countries and they should enhance cooperation in the area of higher education to seek for common development and progress. The visit of the delegation from Moscow State University has played an important role in the exchange between the two universities. The two sides could make use of the advantages of their disciplines and locations to cooperate. Professor Ilya V. Ilyin agreed with Wang s opinion. He expressed his appreciation for the warm reception again and invited our school leaders to visit Moscow State University.
