Yunnan Daily: Spreading Love as a Volunteer

She is a great teacher and she is so funny. She also gives us gifts. I like her classes. When talking about their teacher Rouhieh, the students of Class 1, Grade 3 of Biguang Primary School in Kunming all push themselves in front of the reporter, trying to tell him the love that this teacher has given them.

Rouhieh is a Canadian with a Chinese name Luoxi , currently a lecturer at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics.

Rouhieh dreamed of coming to China since childhood. She said she didn t bring any investment but she brought time to teach Chinese children, and that she will try her best to provide free teaching to Chinese children. She believes that the society will only become better if people provide voluntary service to the society and help others with their knowledge.

Rouhieh teaches Biguang Primary School, Longquan Road Primary School, Zhongyuan School, Luofeng and School where most of the students are children of migrant workers. Rouhieh uses flexible and different teaching methods which are well-received by the students. Through her hard work, students are able to learn real-life English and have greatly improved their English speaking and listening skills. They are also exposed to foreign culture and knowledge. The students and their parents as well as all the teachers of these schools are grateful for Rouhieh s volunteer work and show their admiration for her spirit.
