March 19th - Geoffrey Petts, President of University of Westminster, accompanied by three fellows visited GDUFS on March 16th. The President of GDUFS, Zhong Weihe and Vice President Fang Fanquan welcomed the guests at the North Campus. The purpose for this visit was to deliberate cooperation with the InternationalCollege, the Faculty of English Language and Culture, the School of Interpreting & Translation Studies, the School of English and Education, the School of English for International Studies, and the MBA Education Centre. The cooperation concerns exchanging students, teacher training and short-term exchanges. The two parties signed a Cooperative Treaty of Translation Project.

First, President Zhong extended his welcome to the guests and thanked them for their support. He then gave an introduction to the present development of GDUFS and pointed out that the Internationalization Strategy is one of their most important strategies. The main cooperative components between GDUFS and the University of Westminster are Project 2+1, where students will study in England after studying at GDUFS for two years; and Project of Exchanging Students, where GDUFS students get the chance to study abroad while foreign students come to study in GDUFS. President Zhong hopes for a comprehensive cooperation that will be developed and intensified in more fields, for instance, Student Projects of Language and Business, Projects of Doctoral Students and so on.

Geoffrey Petts introduced the interior reform and recombination of the University of Westminster over the last three years. He indicated that it is time to intensify exterior cooperation since he has seen the dramatic development of China and thinks that there will be more and more exchange between China and the whole world. He was eager to learn about the cooperative intentions of GDUFS.

After the meeting, President Zhong signed the Cooperative Treaty of Translation Project with Geoffrey Petts. It was a successful visit for all involved.
