With the concern and support of the Asian competition law circle Asian Competition Law Society in particular, ZSTU held 2009 Competition Law Asia Forum on Oct. 31. The forum was hosted by School of Law and Politics of ZSTU and East China University of Political Science and Law.
Competition is the core drive of market economy, the lifeblood of market economy. Competition Law is the constitution of economy, the great charter for free enterprises. China has constructed an intact competition law system. Law of the People's Republic of China for Countering Unfair Competition has been put into force since December of 1993 and Anti-monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China has been brought into effect since last August. In order to promote the execution of competition law and share the experiences of Asian countries in the execution of their competition laws, School of Law and Politics of ZSTU and East China University of Political Science and Law hosted 2009 Competition Law Asia Forum.
Those present at the Forum included 80 or so experts, government officials and well-known lawyers from Japan, Korea, Chinese Taiwan and mainland China. They were Professor Toshifumi Hienki and Seryo Singo from Japan, Professor Quan Wucheng and Hong Mingxiu from Korea, Professor Yan Tingdong from Chinese Taiwan, Chinese mainland scholars Wang Xiaoye, Sheng Jiemin, Shi Jianzhong, Huang Yong, and Xu Shiying, to name just a few.Government officials included Deputy Director of Anti-monopoly Bureau of Ministry of Commerce Zhao Hong, Director Luo Zeheng of Legislative Division of Department of Price Supervision of National Development and Reform Commission, Director Zhang Yaobo ofIndustry and Trade Division of Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, and Deputy Director Lu Jiang of Competition Policy Division of Anti-monopoly Bureau of Ministry of Commerce.
ZSTU Party Secretary Fei Junqing attended the meeting and extended greatest welcome to the experts and scholars present and congratulated the opening of the Forum. Zhejiang Law Society sent a congratulatory letter, giving warm welcome to the leaders and experts and wishing the Forum a great success.
The Forum included four subjects, i.e. challenges of the new economy to competition laws , control standards of the concentrations of business operators , abuse of dominant market position , and promotion of competition in Asian countries and regions . There were two thematic seminars at the Forum, one of which was about the abuse of dominant market position hosted by ZSTU Professor Wang Jian and the other was about the promotion of Asian competition hosted by Hu nan University Professor Zheng Pengcheng. The closing ceremony was presided over by Luo Zeheng and Xu Shiying. Scholars and experts of competition law held profound exchanges on the subjects of the Forum and reached unanimous consensus.
The Competition Law Asia Forum was an unprecedented occasion of the competition law circle of Asia and China. It was of vital practical importance to promote the academic exchange of competition law in Asian regions and China s anti-monopoly law.
