Recently, LUO Ruibang and JIN Xin, students of Human Genome Sciences Innovative Program which is jointly established by SCUT and Shenzhen Genomics Research Institute, had their academic paper published in Nature. Thereupon, public attention has been attracted to the talent fostering mode of SCUT's Innovative Program. On the afternoon of Dec. 17th, a conference on the running and recruitment of Innovative Program was held, during which participants exchanged experience about the operation of the Innovative Program in 2009 and discussed about the bid for the Program in 2010.
In 2009, 5 Innovative Programs were established by 5 schools, namely, School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, School of Civil Engineering & Transportation, School of Materials Science & Engineering, School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, and School of Sciences. In total, 150 students took part in the programs. Based on the Innovative Programs of 2009, two more Innovative Programs has been approved to be established by School of Computer Science & Engineering and School of Automation Science & Engineering respectively in 2010, and the student number will increase to 210 by then.
