On the afternoon of March 5, SCUT annual work conference of 2010 was held at Liwu Science and Technology Building. The conference summed up the work in 2009, analyzed the current situation and the University's overall condition, and deployed the main work of 2010. President LI Yuanyuan delivered the annual work report of SCUT in 2010 on behalf of the University party committee and administration. WANG Yingjun, chairman of the University Affairs Committee, presented arrangement for some key items and other university leaders delivered their respective work report of the last year.
In his work report, President Li pointed out that the future of the University lies in its development with its characteristics and at an advanced level. In the year of 2010, we should attach great importance and give highest priority to three issues. The first one is to strengthen the faculty of talents. Second, to further the reform of innovative talent training mode. The last but not the least, to develop the University's capacity of supporting the social and economic development of Guangdong province.
Chairman Wang highlighted some key issues. She called on all the University members to pay close attention to and prepare for "National medium- and long-term educational reform and development project summary"; to invigorate the development of schools and disciplines in the reform of administrative system; to encourage innovation and publicize the self-developed and creative talents.
Wang urged that work on key measures and projects should be strengthened and promoted. She also elaborated the work of Project 985, the construction of advanced faculty, and the livelihood construction of the University.
Later, the conference participants evaluated the University leaders' performance over the past year based on their work reports. The participants included responsible personnel from different schools, departments and other University units, members of the University two sessions, academicians, national celebrity teachers, all professors, deputies of people's congress and political consultative conference, leaders of democratic parties, and some student representatives, etc.
