On 31 October, Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori from RIKEN visited Tianjin University (TU). President GONG Ke met Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori in his office. Professor Fuling Yang, Director of International Cooperation Office (ICO) of TU, and Professor Fengzhou Fang, School of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronics Engineering of TU also attended the meeting.
President GONG Ke extended his warm welcome to the visitors. He wished to take this opportunity of Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori s visit to strengthen mutual understanding, and promote a long-term collaborative relationship on scientific research and academic exchanges in the fields of precision instrument, material sciences and chemical engineering.
Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori also expected to welcome students and scholars from TU to visit RIKEN for collaborations on research and degree education. During this visit, Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori was awarded Guest Professorship of TU. He would visit labs on TU campus and hold academic reports for TU faculties and students.
RIKEN was first organized in 1917 as a private research foundation, and reorganized in 2003 as an independent administrative institution under the Ministry of Education. It carries out high level experimental and research work in a wide range of fields, including physics, chemistry, medical science, biology, and engineering, covering the entire range from basic research to practical application.
President GONG Ke paid an official visit to RIKEN during his business trip to Japan in August 2007. During that visit the delegation from TU was warmly welcomed by Prof. Hitoshi Ohmori.
