Prices of farm produce fall as those of producer goods rise

BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Farm produce prices in 36 large- and medium-sized cities fell for the seventh straight week, said a statement posted on the Ministry of Commerce's website Tuesday.

Farm produce prices dropped 0.4 percent from April 5 to 11.

Of the 57 main edible farm produces, over 50 percent saw prices drop and 8.8 percent saw prices unchanged from the previous week.

Prices of pork, beef, mutton and eggs fell 1.4 percent,0.5 percent, 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.

But grain prices continued to rise with rice and flour both increasing 0.2 percent.

The statement also said prices of producer goods rose 1.5 percent during the period.

Only 6 percent of 112 producer goods fell in prices. Prices of liquified natural gas and medium plates of 10 millimeters rose 4.4 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively.
