Singapore, China sign agreements to upgrade food safety

SINGAPORE, May 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Jilin province and Singapore inked a series of agreements on the inauguration of a modern agricultural food zone on Friday, aiming at upgrading food safety for both countries.

The China Jilin (Singapore) Modern Agricultural Cooperation Food Zone is a major collaborative project designed to enhance food security.

The core area of the food zone is a compact 30 square km plot of land in Jilin city of Jilin province. The food zone will leverage on the geographical resources of Jilin province and the technical expertise of both countries, and focus on disease-free farming, safe and healthy food processing, warehousing and logistics, product testing and inspection, research and development and talent training.
