Birth in May 26, 1942 at LiuYnag, Hunan Province, graduated at 8th term of Military Engineering College, Senior Engineer, Expert to enjoy the State s level government special allowance, the youngest son of famous General Wang Zhen, the inventor of China first Electronic Computer, Former vice director of Computer Industry Administration Bureau of Electronics Industry Ministry, Former Chairman of Board of Great Wall Computer Group. Be known as the IT Godfather in China.

Innovation of China First Computer

In the end of 70s last century, although the R&D and manufacture had been carried out for 20 years and got a certain achievement, but it had not built up a great scale Industry. China started the R&D and manufacture of Micro-computer from 1974, till 1982, the total output had not exceed 2000 set, meanwhile, mass foreign brand micro computer occupied the Chinese market inversely.

During that time, Wang Zhi was vice director of Computer Industry Administration Bureau, He realized the emergency of the promotion Chinese Industry. He organized the core team in short time under the support of the Bureau, invest 300 thousand Yuan to carry out the research work, assigned Vice Chief engineer, Mr. Lu Ming as the team leader and authorized him to select dozen of young engineers who familiar with the related technology. Soon the team started their work in a hotel near MadianBridge.

1987, opening to the outside of the world and reforming was developed fast in Shenzhen Special Zone, Wang Zhi moved his China Computer Development Company into Shenzhen and established its extroverted type of R&D Base there. The company name was formally changed to China Great Wall Computer Group.

Later on, Great Wall grown up in the hot land of Shenzhen. In May, 1987, first set of Chinese 286 computer, Great Wall 286 was exhibited in BeijingExhibitionCenter with the annual output of 20 thousand sets. In 1988, Great Wall released China first 386 micro computer, in the December, 1990, First ASIC Special purpose Chip was developed Wang Zhi and Great Wall become the focus point then.

Build up IT Great Wall

Along the technology developed and under the leadership of Wang Zhi, started from the PC assembling, Great Wall Computer have seized the main parts manufacture technique such as display unit and power supplier, and then ,the magnetic head and hard disk.

In the 1990s, the PC include display, case, printer,power supplier was shown in the Computer Exhibition together in Las Vegas, Great Wall had built up the ceiling of Chinese IT Industry, many oversea Chinese said that they were proud for Great Wall Computer, just because that, Wang Zhi has the chance to meet Bill Gates,the founder of Microsoft.

1992, Bill Gates visited China to look for the cooperation with Great Wall. Some American Media deemed Wang Zhi as the Chinese who stops Bill Gates footstep .

for dozens of years, Great Wall sails from Shenzhen, realizes a fast development in Science and technology innovation, manufacture, marketing, technical service etc. and built up the closed cooperation relationship with IT Industrial Famous Companies.

The Shenzhen Mayor Award was given to Wang Zhi in 2003 as his great contribution to Shenzhen city s development.

It is a best way to leave that left a good result, build up a solid basement for new comer , Wang Zhi resigned from the Chairman of Great Wall in May. 2004 after he finished a excellent job. He is 62 years old by this year and had worked 18 years for Great Wall Group.
