Anti-Japanese War Relic Discovered in Changsha

A suspected cultural relic from the Anti-Japanese War period, Zhongzheng Sword , was found in Changsha City on Jan.23.

"Zhongzheng Sword" gets its name from the inscription on the handle. It is the carry-on dagger sent to right-hand soldiers and military officers, meritorious persons as well as students of Nationalist Party of China Army Officer Academy, commonly known as the Whampoa Military Academy, (a military academy in the Republic of China that produced many prestigious commanders).

As a symbol of honor, it is an etiquette adornment sword awarded in line with the international conventions. The chance of finding a genuine "Zhongzheng Sword" hardly reaches 1% in China and thus the sword is especially valuable, according to collectors.

The rusted Zhongzheng Sword discovered in Changsha reveals exquisite plum flower patterns engraved on both thecopper sheet coated handle and the hilt head. Both the mouth and tale of the scabbard are carved with decorative patterns and wrapped with copper sheet.

On one side of the sword handle writes Commandant Jiang Zhongzheng , while on the other side goes In memory of Graduation from Special Training Program of Nationalist Party of China Army Officer Academy .

Moreover, four figures (0, 2, 4, 6), and characters including Military Soul and Republic of China, 1938.7.15 are carved on the blade.
